It's the end of your Junior year, you have already chosen your Senior classes, started thinking about colleges, and are looking forward to your summer vacations.

At this point you have probably gotten information from your school about where you will need to go to have your picture taken to be included in the yearbook.  Most schools will only accept yearbook pictures from their appointed photographer.  Some schools will accept images from other photographers but may charge a small fee.  It is up to you to speak with your yearbook advisor for your school's requirements. 

Can the image that you have taken be used  as your Senior portrait, the answer is yes it can, but should you, the answer is no.

A Senior portrait is so much more.  A Senior portrait allows you to capture a memorable moment of time in your lives through fun, creative, expressive and unique portraits. 

During a Senior portrait session, Seniors are given the opportunity to choose all of their outfits that will allow them to express their own unique individuality.  Not only will a Senior be able to express themselves through the outfits that they choose, but also based on their location.  With your senior portraits , you are not limited by the traditional background of the yearbook image, you are only limited by where you want to go.  The city, the park, the beach, there are so many options to make your Senior portraits as unique as you are.

Yearbook images generally have a deadline, and will generally need to be done before Thanksgiving of your Senior year.  Your Senior portrait however has no time frame.  You can start having your portraits taken as early as the Spring of your Junior year.  During your Senior year you will have so many things going preparing yourself for graduation and college, that finding the time to fit in having your portraits taken can be difficult, and even more so if you are involved in any after school activities.  It is highly encouraged to have your Senior portraits taken anytime from the spring of your Junior year to right before you start back to school your Senior year in August.
